Skincare Ingredients You Can or Can’t Mix

Skincare Ingredients You Can or Can’t Mix

There are many videos and reels that provide us with  information isn’t quite true.

  1. Don’t Mix Salicyclic Acid and Retinoids. Is this true or false?   Answer: FALSE. There is no chemical reason why these two shouldn’t be mixed; however,  both can cause irritation, so it is wise to be careful with the combination.

NB: Not a good combination for sensitive skin.

    2. Retinol and Vitamin C, can be mixed.

Answer: TRUE. However, be careful with this combination, as they can both cause sensitivity. Preferably, only use in products that already have them combined.

   3. NEVER use Retinol during the day.

Answer: AVOID daytime use except for formulas specifically made for         daytime use. Retinol is unstable during the day and breaks down; therefore, the maximal effect and benefit is lost.

  4. Exfoliating Actives and Retinol Application around the Eyes.

Answer: DO NOT USE. Both products are irritating to the skin and the skin around the eyes is the thinnest, so severe damage can be caused to this area.
